It’s the 21st Century version of “Taxation Without Representation.” But don’t expect a Revolution anytime soon.
I’m referring, of course, to the onerous local taxes and fees borne by the traveling public. According to Travelocity, taxes and other charges passed along by car rental companies raise the average bill 28 percent at airport locations. In some major cities, these fees can exceed 50 percent.
