About Peter Shure

Peter Shure was the Founding Editor of Meeting News and served for 10 years as Program Chairman of the Meeting World Conference & Exposition.
He joined the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) in 1991 as Editor-In-Chief of Convene and was subsequently named PCMA’s Vice President of Marketing and Member Relations. In 1993, he received the organization’s coveted President’s Award.
That same year, he served as Associate Producer of “The Invisible Industry,” a documentary that aired on PBS stations nationwide. He was also the author of the Convention Industry Council’s (CIC) Economic Impact Study, which was presented at the White House Conference on Travel and Tourism.
In recognition of his career contribution to the industry, Shure was elected to the CIC Hall of Leaders in 1999. In 2006, the PCMA Foundation honored his longtime contribution to the education of meeting professionals.
More recently, Shure served as Director of Strategic Marketing for Experient (formerly Conferon Global Services). In February, 2007, he joined Response Custom Publishing as Publisher and Editorial Director of Meeting Mentor. Pete is also the editor and lead contributor of the popular blog, meetPete.org.
